ENGAGEMENTS

Our I-CLAIM member Bastian Vollmer has participated at the conference „Illegality“ at the Catholic Academy in Berlin

14.03.204-15.03.2024. Berlin

On 14 March 2024 Bastian Vollmer presented the I-Claim project at the well-known conference „Illegality“ 2024 at the Catholic Academy in Berlin. More than 100 particiapants attended and engaged in encouraging discussions and lively engagements.

The conference was open to anyone who would like to deal with the human rights, social and political consequences of illegal residency. The conference offered perspectives from science, politics, administration, social services and migration, health and social advice. Given the current heated migration debate with frequent references to illegality, there is concern about the rights of people without residence status. With the conference, the aim was to address the current discussions, but also contribute to a fact-based discussion.

In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Bastian Vollmer, Catholic University of Mainz had the possibility to present the I-Claim project at the panel assigned to it titled ‘Illegal residence status in current research’. The panel was moderated by Martina Liebsch, Kath. Forum Life in Illegality.
